Buyers looking for a radical styling change will be disappointed as the new mid-size pickup truck will look similar to the current one, but with more pronounced features, particularly for the fender flares.<\/p>\n<p>Underneath will be a new platform. Another unique option will be the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1139252_2024-toyota-tacoma-hybrid-powertrain-option-confirmed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">availability of a hybrid powertrain<\/a>. The setup is expected to consist of a 2.4-liter turbo-4 paired with a single electric motor.<\/p>\n<p>An electric Tacoma is also planned. It was previewed in late 2021, when Toyota confirmed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1131247_toyota-reveals-a-dozen-evs-including-sports-car-pickup-and-fj-cruiser-like-model\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plans to launch 30 EVs<\/a> across the Toyota and Lexus brands by 2030, though specific timing for its launch is uncertain.<\/p>\n<p>When the 2024 Tacoma arrives, there will be multiple versions, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1139410_2024-toyota-tacoma-disc-brakes-trd-pro-fox-shocks-teased\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">off-road-ready TRD Pro<\/a> with Fox suspension. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1139325_2024-toyota-tacoma-trailhunter-teased\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new Trailhunter version<\/a> designed for fans of overlanding is also coming. Toyota teased the vehicle last fall with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1137714_toyota-tacoma-trailhunter-concept-revealed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">concept based on the current Tacoma<\/a>. Toyota plans to add the Trailhunter treatment to multiple vehicles, with the 2024 Tacoma confirmed by the automaker to be the first recipient.<\/p>\n<p>The 2024 Tacoma is due at dealerships later this year.
