But the idea of getting your <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/electric\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">electric car<\/a> a full &#8220;charge&#8221; in just a matter of minutes has gotten swapping some more recent momentum.<\/p>\n<p>Charging an electric car can take a while, depending on the type of <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/dodge\/charger\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">charger<\/a> a driver uses. In your own garage with a standard plug, or maybe at your office, it might take 8 hours. At faster plugs out in public, you might be waiting at least 20 minutes with a Level 3 charger, or maybe an hour or two with a Level 2.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless, it&#8217;s no question that charging currently takes a little bit longer than fueling up a gas-powered car at a <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/cheap-gas-prices\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">gas station<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s where battery swapping could come into play, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/blackstone-is-betting-50-million-on-ev-battery-swapping-2021-11?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">startup Ample<\/a> is eager to get automakers on board with the idea.
