That battery pack size hasn\u2019t yet been clarified, but the automaker says the paperwork is in. It\u2019s on track to start deliveries in spring 2023 as scheduled\u2014which sounds like right about now.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1139670_toyota-prius-prime-lease-undercuts-that-of-cheaper-prius-hybrid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Toyota Prius Prime plug-in hybrid costs less to lease<\/a> than the Prius hybrid\u2014even though the Prime has a higher sticker price. That\u2019s because Toyota is applying federal tax credit funds for this made-in-Japan plug-in that apply to the lease but not to purchases.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mercedes-Benz is planning a U.S.-bound electric luxury van plus a range of van-based EVs including a camper van, delivery vehicles, and even purpose-built vehicles like ambulances. But as with Toyota\u2019s larger Tundra pickups, hybrid versions prioritize towing, hauling, and replacing larger engines more than they go for peak mpg. And despite the rumor mill and what Toyota\u2019s concept vehicles might suggest, there\u2019s no sign of a Tacoma EV yet.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Those who drive a Porsche Taycan now have a wider range of navigation choices. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1139683_apple-maps-tracks-porsche-taycan-energy-use-shows-charging-stations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apple Maps will tap into the Taycan\u2019s energy use<\/a> and state of charge and, like the EV\u2019s built-in Charging Planner, recommend charging stops along the way. Former Audi CEO Rupert Stadler on Tuesday admitted guilt and agreed to pay a $1.2 million fine for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1139668_former-audi-ceo-admits-guilt-in-diesel-scandal-pays-1-2m-fine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">continuing to sell vehicles with emissions-cheating software<\/a> after the scandal broke. Stadler\u2019s legacy isn\u2019t entirely mired in diesel smoke though, as he pushed ahead with plans to electrify Audi that continue to this day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Two electric vehicle reveals that target Europe again had us wonder: Why not the U.S.? Honda revealed a mainstream <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1139640_honda-puts-off-key-e-ny1-badge-on-mainstream-ev-for-europe\">compact electric SUV for Europe<\/a>\u2014one that will go up against the Hyundai Kona Electric and others. With a three-year UK trial project, Ford is looking at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1139642_ford-revives-hydrogen-interest-with-e-transit-fuel-cell-trial\">fuel-cell E-Transit vans<\/a> used in place of its heaviest commercial vans\u2014of the sort that still might otherwise require diesel engines today.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Just this week, Honda made more hydrogen-related announcements, too. On one hand, it confirmed plans to demonstrate a fuel-cell heavy-duty truck with Isuzu next year, with a market launch due in 2027. On the other hand, it\u2019s looking at the potential role of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1139681_honda-plans-fuel-cell-semi-ponders-hydrogen-for-small-mobility\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hydrogen-fueled internal combustion engines in small mobility<\/a>, with Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Yamaha\u2014even though these companies are also developing a battery-swapping scheme.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The big battery plant being built by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1139657_stellantis-lg-battery-plant-stalls-due-to-lack-of-canadian-support\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">joint venture of Stellantis and LG<\/a> in Ontario, Canada\u2014and flanked by a nearby center for battery expertise\u2014has been put on hold, according to Stellantis, because the Canadian government hasn\u2019t delivered the incentives it originally agreed to. That\u2019s no cause for a price cut, according to the company and its CEO, but there are lower-priced models on the way.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The regional utility Rocky Mountain Power announced plans Wednesday for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1139682_utility-owned-ev-fast-charging-stations-will-fill-the-gap-in-utah\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">80 fast-charging stations at 20 sites in Utah<\/a>, with support from Electrify America.
