Last month, the company launched an $11,000 hatchback at the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/shanghai-motor-show\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:17;\">Shanghai auto show<\/a> called Seagull \u2014 which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/byd-seagull-cheap-ev-electric-car-tesla-china-2023-4?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:18;\">Insider&#8217;s Tim Levin<\/a> called &#8220;ridiculously cheap.&#8221; In comparison, the price of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tesla.com\/model3\/design#overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:19;\">Tesla Model 3<\/a> starts from around $40,000.<\/p>\n<p>Despite its foray into Europe and Southeast Asia, the company doesn&#8217;t seem to have any plans to enter the U.S. passenger market, BYD founder Wang Chuanfu said in March, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-03-29\/china-s-byd-has-no-plans-to-challenge-tesla-is-us-anytime-soon?sref=LspfQlRv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:20;\">Bloomberg.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At present, BYD only has a small <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/category\/commercial-trucks\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:21;\">commercial vehicle<\/a> business in the U.S., per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/cheap-chinese-electric-cars-will-upend-the-us-vehicle-market-2023-5?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:22;\">Insider on May 17.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even so, Buffet seems to think Tesla may still have an edge against BYD.<\/p>\n<p>Berkshire Hathaway has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/markets.businessinsider.com\/news\/stocks\/warren-buffett-elon-musk-berkshire-hathaway-sells-byd-stock-electric-2023-5?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:23;\">reduced its stake in the Chinese EV maker<\/a> because it doesn&#8217;t want to compete with Tesla CEO <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/elon+musk\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:24;\">Elon Musk<\/a>, Buffet said at the investment firm&#8217;s annual shareholder meeting on May 6.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"slide\">\n<h2 class=\"slide-title\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">2. The EV maker did not indicate a timeline for its plans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The $27,000 Zeekr X even has facial recognition software to unlock the car and owners can also opt to install a refrigerator in the car, Andy An, the CEO of Zeekr, said at an event, Reuters further reported.<\/p>\n<p>The company aims to deliver 40,000 Zeekr X cars to the China market this year, with its first domestic deliveries starting in June, An said per Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>And even though Zeekr is backed by a major auto player, it still trails its EV peers in the domestic Chinese markets.<\/p>\n<p>Zeekr sold just 15,234 of its existing models in the first quarter of 2023 \u2014 this is half of the 31,000 vehicles Nio sold and just 10% of what Tesla sold in the same period, per Reuters.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"slide\">\n<h2 class=\"slide-title\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">5.
