These were my least favorite &#8211; Autoblog"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure><figcaption>\n   The 2022 GMC<br \/>\n  <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/hummer\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:0;\">Hummer<\/a> EV Edition 1.<br \/>\n  <span class=\"copyright\">Tim Levin\/Insider<\/span><br \/>\n <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul class=\"summary-list\">\n<li>I&#8217;ve driven more than 20 different <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/electric\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">electric vehicles<\/a>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ve enjoyed most of them, but I&#8217;d steer clear of three particular EVs if I was ready to buy.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Those models are the the GMC Hummer EV, <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/nissan\/leaf\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">Nissan Leaf<\/a>, and ElectraMeccanica Solo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the course of testing 24 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/polestar-3-electric-suv-photos-price-tesla-rival-psny-2023-3?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">electric vehicles<\/a> over the last couple of years, I&#8217;ve gotten behind the wheel of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/best-electric-cars-rivian-r1s-hyundai-ioniq-5-porsche-taycan-2022-12?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">some true gems<\/a> \u2014 vehicles that I&#8217;d buy in a heartbeat if given the chance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/porsche-taycan-turbo-s-cross-turismo-electric-car-review-2022-6?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">badass, $200,000 Porsche station wagon<\/a> that zips to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds? Yes please. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/rivian-r1s-electric-suv-photos-review-range-tesla-2022-7?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">luxurious, four-wheel-drive SUV from Rivian<\/a> that eats off-road trails for breakfast? Sign me up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While my experiences have overall been positive, three vehicles stand out as ones I&#8217;d steer clear of. I&#8217;m not saying nobody should <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/category\/carbuying\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">buy these cars<\/a> \u2014 by all means, have at it. But for my personal tastes and needs, their downsides outweigh their benefits.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>ElectraMeccanica Solo<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure>\n <strong><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/insider_articles_922\/0d682316cc4aa602554306065cf4e905\" alt=\"The ElectraMeccanica Solo.\" data-uuid=\"bf26593e-a97e-38e9-96e6-7fdddfae8662\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/strong><\/strong><figcaption>\n   The ElectraMeccanica Solo.<br \/>\n  <span class=\"copyright\">Tim Levin\/Insider<\/span><br \/>\n <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Scratch that \u2014 maybe I&#8217;ve only driven 23.5 <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/electric\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">electric cars<\/a>, given <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/electrameccanica-solo-ev-review-drive-electric-vehicle-three-wheels-2022-4?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">the ElectraMeccanica Solo&#8217;s<\/a> inclusion on this list.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The single-seat, three-wheeler challenges the American desire for bigger and bigger vehicles, which I think is great. Surely, many are taking up more space and spewing more <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/category\/emissions\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">emissions<\/a> than they need to.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure>\n <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/insider_articles_922\/fe938b459d8c36755b970a238d8f1931\" alt=\"The ElectraMeccanica Solo.\" data-uuid=\"28560615-49d0-30bb-bef6-c7316d2ac2ab\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><figcaption>\n   The ElectraMeccanica Solo.<br \/>\n  <span class=\"copyright\">Tim Levin\/Insider<\/span><br \/>\n <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Solo seems like a cheat code for getting around some cities. It has a little trunk for groceries, a tiny footprint for fitting into practically any parking spot, and it&#8217;s enclosed, making it more comfortable than an <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/electric+bike\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">electric bike<\/a> or <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/category\/motorcycles\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">motorcycle<\/a>. But it doesn&#8217;t exactly suit my driving needs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My trips typically take me far away from the city, often with another person or some bikes in <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2020\/06\/17\/how-to-tow\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">tow<\/a>. The Solo and its 100 miles of claimed range don&#8217;t quite fit the bill. Plus, during my 20-minute test drive in downtown Manhattan, I felt dangerously exposed and invisible among all the tall SUVs and <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/truck\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:14;\">trucks<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>GMC Hummer EV<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure>\n <strong><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/insider_articles_922\/a5f60c0dfda96a7121323523ecbb0c1e\" alt=\"The GMC Hummer EV Edition 1.\" data-uuid=\"bfafaddf-3377-375b-a4f0-0dfdf57e068c\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/strong><\/strong><figcaption>\n   The GMC Hummer EV Edition 1.<br \/>\n  <span class=\"copyright\">Tim Levin\/Insider<\/span><br \/>\n <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/gmc-hummer-ev-review-price-electric-pickup-truck-2022-11?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:15;\">new $113,000 Hummer pickup&#8217;s<\/a> sheer size and excessiveness makes it fun to tool around in for a weekend. It feels like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/hummer-ev-photos-electric-pickup-truck-review-gmc-edition-1-2022-11?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:16;\">a ridiculously huge and expensive toy<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But it&#8217;s much, much more vehicle than most people need. Although its rear-wheel steering helps maneuverability, its many blind spots and tank-sized footprint make city driving nerve-racking. Even when you get out on the highway, the Hummer feels unsettlingly large. More than once, I peered down at a puny sedan passing me and wondered how long it had been cruising in my blind spot.<\/p>\n<figure>\n <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/insider_articles_922\/8fc246ba19e8094779db457dfc8bf2a5\" alt=\"The 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1.\" data-uuid=\"8fded923-7ba0-3022-acb4-f493e36713a5\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><figcaption>\n   The 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1.<br \/>\n  <span class=\"copyright\">Tim Levin\/Insider<\/span><br \/>\n <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It&#8217;s also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/gmc-hummer-ev-efficiency-weight-electric-vehicles-pickup-trucks-2022-12?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:17;\">the least efficient EV on the market<\/a>, which kind of defeats the purpose of ditching gasoline in the first place. Other electric pickups out there \u2014 the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/rivian\/r1t\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:18;\">Rivian R1T<\/a> and <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/ford\/f_150+lightning\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:19;\">Ford F-150 Lightning<\/a> \u2014 are more sensibly sized, less in-your-face, and just as functional.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Nissan Leaf<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure>\n <strong><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/insider_articles_922\/a232877bdbd2d89e5a4d2465ee501537\" alt=\"The 2022 Nissan Leaf.\" data-uuid=\"11c6cfe9-0944-3101-a079-bc0c37ba10e8\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/strong><\/strong><figcaption>\n   Fast-charging the 2022 Nissan Leaf.<br \/>\n  <span class=\"copyright\">Tim Levin\/Insider<\/span><br \/>\n <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Nissan Leaf is one of the OGs of the EV world. Although it was a pioneer when it first launched more than a decade ago and remains one of the most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/cheapest-electric-cars-affordable-toyota-chevy-hyundai-kia-nissan-tesla-2023-1?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:20;\">budget-friendly EVs you can buy<\/a>, it can&#8217;t beat modern offerings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The base, $27,800 Leaf is EPA-rated for only 149 miles of range, significantly less than other options and not enough for confident road-tripping. The $43,000 <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tesla\/model+3\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:21;\">Tesla Model 3<\/a> delivers 272 miles of range, while the $26,500 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/chevy-bolt-euv-cheap-electric-car-suv-price-2022-12?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:22;\">Chevrolet Bolt EV<\/a> rates at 259 miles. The pricier Leaf SV Plus still comes in at only 215 miles.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure>\n <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"grp-full lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/insider_articles_922\/e642bfcfc9b467caa6738764e11982d3\" alt=\"2023 Nissan Leaf\" data-uuid=\"de057e27-600f-3ed2-8eb3-b5f9c6523970\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><figcaption>\n   2023 Nissan Leaf.<br \/>\n  <span class=\"copyright\">Nissan<\/span><br \/>\n <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Plus, the Leaf <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/cheapest-electric-car-ev-nissan-leaf-review-pros-cons-2022-3?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:23;\">uses a different fast-charging port<\/a> than the rest of the industry, limiting the stations where it can be refueled. Given the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/electric-vehicle-chargers-infrastructure-adoption-automakers-drivers-startup-2022-11?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:24;\">sorry state of EV-charging infrastructure today<\/a>, I&#8217;d prefer to have access to all the plugs possible.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Still, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/nissan-leaf-revew-cheapest-affordable-electric-car-in-us-2021-10?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:25;\">Leaf is a solid, low-cost choice<\/a> for someone who doesn&#8217;t need to drive all that far and can charge primarily at home.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"read-original\">\n  Read the original article on<br \/>\n <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/electric-cars-vehicles-i-wouldnt-buy-after-driving-testing-dozens-2023-2\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:26;\">Business Insider<\/a>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1.
