The new EV will roll out shortly after its larger GV90 electric SUV hits the market.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-364337\"\/>\t<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-genesis-to-launch-new-gv80-luxury-electric-suv\">Genesis to launch new GV80 luxury electric SUV<\/h2>\n<p>After previewing its first full-size electric SUV with the <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2024\/03\/26\/genesis-unveils-stunning-full-size-electric-suv-neolun-concept\/\">Neolun Concept<\/a> in March, Genesis is already working on another EV.<\/p>\n<p>Genesis plans to begin building the new electric GV80 in the second quarter of 2026, following the start of production of its <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2024\/05\/15\/genesis-launching-first-full-size-electric-suv-range-rover-rival\/\">flagship GV90<\/a> (previewed in the Neolun Concept), which is scheduled for the first half of next year.<\/p>\n<p>According to Genesis, the GV90 features \u201cinnovation that exceeds conventional standards.\u201d In other words, Genesis looks to take on luxury rivals like Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Tesla, and Rivian.<\/p>\n<p>The GV90 will be the first Genesis to use Hyunda\u2019s next-gen \u201ceM\u201d platform. The new platform is expected to cut costs by 20% while boosting range, charging, and efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>Genesis is upping the competition with plans to launch another electric SUV. After topping Infiniti in 2022, Genesis is aiming for even more. <\/p>\n<p>Sales of the luxury brand have surged from 7,000 in 2016 to over 69,000 last year in the US. That\u2019s nearly as much as Porsche (75,415), Land Rover (71,727), and Lincoln (81,818).<\/p>\n<p>Genesis\u2019 new GV80 electric SUV will compete with the new <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/guides\/porsche-macan\/\">Porsche Macan EV<\/a>, Tesla Model Y, Rivian R1S, and other luxury SUVs in the segment.<\/p>\n<p>Data from <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coxautoinc.com\/market-insights\/cox-automotive-analysis-hyundai-motors-q4-2023-u-s-market-performance\/\">Cox Automotive<\/a><\/em> shows Genesis sold 6,403 EVs in the US last year, outpacing luxury rivals Lexus and Lucid.<\/p>\n<p>Genesis revealed earlier this month that its electric models are now available in 37 US states. The luxury brand offers the GV60, Electrified GV70, and Electrified G80.<\/p>\n<p>Genesis is shaping up to be a dark horse in the US luxury market.
