In an exclusive interview with <em>Electrek<\/em>, Hyundai Motor America CEO Randy Parker said the company is \u201chumble and hungry\u201d as it remains committed to EVs in the US.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-364669\"\/>\t<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-hyundai-s-dedication-to-evs-is-paying-off\">Hyundai\u2019s dedication to EVs is paying off<\/h2>\n<p>Despite rivals pulling back, Hyundai is doubling down on its EV commitment as it looks to separate itself from the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Its early dedication is already paying off. Hyundai is outpacing the US electric vehicle market with a wide-ranging lineup of award-winning EVs, including the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and Kona Electric.<\/p>\n<p>Hyundai\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2024\/04\/02\/hyundai-ioniq-5-sets-march-us-sales-record-ev-sales-surge\/\">EV sales surged 62%<\/a> in Q1, with the IONIQ 5 and Kona Electric setting new first-quarter sales records. Compared to overall US EV sales, up 2.6% in Q1 (according to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coxautoinc.com\/market-insights\/q1-2024-ev-sales\/\">Cox Automotive<\/a><\/em>), Hyundai is leaving much of the competition in the rear view.<\/p>\n<p>Parker said \u201cdemand for our vehicles, especially EVs, remains high\u201d after the record-setting performance.<\/p>\n<p>Hyundai is \u201csticking to its strategy,\u201d Parker told <em>Electrek<\/em> in an interview. Hyundai\u2019s IONIQ 5 (114 MPGe) and Kona Electric (116 MPGe) also made the list.<\/p>\n<p>Parker told <em>Electrek<\/em> that Hyundai is giving buyers the confidence to go electric by providing EVs with long-range capabilities, fast charging, and sleek designs. Hyundai upgraded the Kona EV in every way, with more range, faster charging, and a bold new design. Parker told <em>Electrek<\/em> that 700 of Hyundai\u2019s 840 dealers in the US are now IONIQ certified, which includes Level 3 chargers, training, and Hyundai certification to sell EVs.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s latest campaign, revealed this week, is a tribute to Hyundai\u2019s dedication to EVs. Canada will follow in the first half of 2025.
