On the used market, though, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iseecars.com\/used-car-prices-study\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:0;\"><em>iSeeCars\u2019<\/em><\/a> latest study found that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/article\/cheapest-electric-cars\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">used EV prices have fallen<\/a> below used gas models\u2019 pricing for the first time \u2014 and with used electrics&#8217; costs falling \u201cmuch faster\u201d than gas <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/car-values\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">cars\u2019 values<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>iSeeCars analyzed more than 2.2 million <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/car-values\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">used car prices<\/a> in February, finding that EVs are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2024\/02\/25\/the-10-most-deeply-discounted-electric-cars-right-now\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">losing value<\/a> much faster than gas models. EV pricing is down almost 30 percent year-over-year, reaching nearly five times the rate of price decline of gas vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Karl Brauer, <em>iSeeCars\u2019<\/em> executive analyst, said, \u201cThere\u2019s no denying the crash in used <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/electric\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">electric vehicle<\/a> values over the past year. We\u2019ve watched EVs\u2019 prices fall between 30 and 40 percent since June of last year, while the average gas car\u2019s price has dropped by just 3 to 7 percent in that same timeframe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Used EV prices had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2023\/07\/11\/used-car-price-drop-electric-tesla\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">decent moment at the end of 2023<\/a>, but they fell off the cliff earlier this year before continuing their decline. Used gas <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/car-values\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">car prices<\/a> rebounded a bit during that time. \u201cIt\u2019s clear <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/cars-for-sale\/vcond-Used\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">used car<\/a> shoppers will no longer pay a premium for electric vehicles and, in fact, consider electric powertrains a detractor, making them less desirable \u2013 and less valuable \u2013 than traditional models,\u201d Brauer said.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re looking at a used vehicle, now could be a good time to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2024\/03\/31\/heres-the-state-of-u-s-ev-adoption-in-2024\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">jump in on EVs<\/a>. Part of the challenge <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/car-dealers\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">dealers<\/a> face with moving used EV inventory is buyer skepticism about the national charging network and <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/battery\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">battery<\/a> longevity, leaving the door open to find solid deals on used models for buyers who know what to look for.
