In France, where its start-up creators are located, it\u2019s called the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoevolution.com\/news\/karbike-is-an-iinovative-hybrid-vehicle-that-stands-at-the-intersection-of-car-and-bicycle-233638.html#agal_8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:0;\"> Karbike<\/a>. <em>Naturelle.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Technically, this thing \u2014 which looks to us like an enlarged toaster \u2014 is deep down an E-bike that wants to be a car. It even conforms to the 250-watt power limit of pedal-assist e-bikes in Europe. It does, however, get a sizable <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/battery\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">battery<\/a> with 750-watt-hours of juice providing the above-mentioned range. The roof is aluminum, and the frame is steel.<\/p>\n<p>The Karbike measures 31.5 inches wide. The rider propels the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/hybrid\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">hybrid vehicle<\/a> using both pedals and the mid-mounted Valeo motor. Speed is limited to about 15 miles per hour.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/karbikes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">Karbikes<\/a> (yes, the company name is the plural of Karbike) was founded in 2022 by Gaelle Richard and Lucas Van\u00e7on, two Alsatian engineers, who hope to eventually offer two versions once it advances past the prototype stage this summer.
