A 2014 sinkhole in Kentucky landed directly under the storied National <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/chevrolet\/corvette\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">Corvette<\/a> Museum (NCM), the holy land for <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/chevrolet\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">Chevy<\/a> enthusiasts and a popular spot for special <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2020\/01\/11\/2020-chevy-corvette-build-book\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">car deliveries and events<\/a>. The museum has been <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/auto-repair\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">repaired<\/a>, and to commemorate the shocking event, it opened \u201cGround to <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/saturn\/sky\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">Sky<\/a>: The Sinkhole Reimagined,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corvettemuseum.org\/new-sinkhole-exhibit-celebrates-10-years-of-progress-national-corvette-museum-opens-ground-to-sky-the-sinkhole-reimagined\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">an exhibit<\/a> with some of the damaged cars and other items from the wreckage.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2020\/06\/08\/corvette-musem-reopens-mid-engine-exhibit\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">natural disaster<\/a> destroyed several priceless Corvettes, but the museum didn\u2019t toss them away. Some of the exhibit\u2019s most compelling offerings include a ZR-1 Spyder, a 1962 Corvette, and the 1.5 millionth Corvette built. There will also be the 2009 ZR-1 Blue Devil and the one-millionth car at the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to open Ground to Sky: The Sinkhole Reimagined,\u201d said NCM Board Chair Kaye Wagner. \u201cThis special exhibit allows us to reflect on the challenges we faced, and the tremendous progress we have achieved since then.\u201d<\/p>\n<p\/><\/div>\n<div class=\"post-body\">\n<p>Beyond the cars, the exhibit will also display the original sinkhole and the boulder that fell on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2022\/11\/18\/corvette-zr1-engine-lt7-twin-turbo\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">rare Corvette model<\/a>. The museum also plans to detail its recovery efforts, including the process taken to repair the sinkhole and capital improvements made to the on-site restaurant and gallery. Visitors will also get an overview of the museum\u2019s history before the sinkhole, and tickets come with admission to the Skydome, which overlooks the boulder.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re hoping to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2014\/11\/04\/corvette-museum-sinkhole-zr1-restored-video\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">make the exhibit<\/a> part of your summer <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/road+trips\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">road trip<\/a> or vacation plans, you have until September 15 to visit. Tickets aren\u2019t super expensive, but the museum offers several upgrades that can push the price to well over $100, depending on the visitor\u2019s selection.
