One of its more unusual features was a three-row seating arrangement, with removable jump seats, something Ram parent Stellantis is now trying to patent.<\/p>\n<p>First spotted by <a href=\"https:\/\/carbuzz.com\/ram-1500-rev-third-row-jump-seats-patented-stellantis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CarBuzz<\/a>, a patent application for removable third-row jump seats was published by the <strong>United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)<\/strong> on July 4, after being filed by Stellantis in late 2023.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"static-marker-video-player-primis\"\/><\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper first_wrapper\" readability=\"7\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"tccimg_100936791_m\" title=\"Ram third-row jump seat patent image\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAD\/ACwAAAAAAQABAAACADs=\" alt=\"Ram third-row jump seat patent image\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" class=\"first_image lazy\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"682\" data-url=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/ram-third-row-jump-seat-patent-image_100936791_l.webp\" data-src-h=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/hug\/ram-third-row-jump-seat-patent-image_100936791_h.webp\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/ram-third-row-jump-seat-patent-image_100936791_l.webp\" data-src-l=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/ram-third-row-jump-seat-patent-image_100936791_l.webp\" data-src-m=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/med\/ram-third-row-jump-seat-patent-image_100936791_m.webp\" data-src-s=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/sml\/ram-third-row-jump-seat-patent-image_100936791_s.webp\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Ram third-row jump seat patent image<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The patent application describes seats that would clip onto the rear wall of a pickup&#8217;s cab, and could be <strong>folded up when not in use<\/strong> to free up space. The seats can also be removed completely and attached to the tailgate or any other flat surface, according to the application.<\/p>\n<p>This is fairly similar to the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV concept, where the jump seats were mounted to a power mid-gate that, when opened, created a pass-through that extended into the front trunk. It&#8217;s for a center console with its own pass-through, preserving the open space between the mid-gate and the front trunk.<\/p>\n<p>These patent filings indicate that Stellantis is thinking about putting some of the features from the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV concept into production eventually, but we know that Ram&#8217;s first production EV will be more conventional than the concept.
