That\u2019s still the goal, but the phase-out of internal combustion (ICE) motors will take \u201clonger than initially thought.\u201d They delivered the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2024\/07\/22\/porsche-waters-down-ev-ambitions-says-transition-will-take-years\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">same message over at Porsche<\/a> on Monday..<\/p>\n<p>Dollner and his team have adopted the savvy attitude that plug-in hybrids essentially are the \u201cbridge,\u201d \u201cespecially becoming important in <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/china\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">China<\/a> and North America. The positive message is that we are flexible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Because hybrids, like those from Japanese companies like <a href=\"https:\/\/automobiles.honda.com\/civic-sedan\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">Honda<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toyota.com\/camry\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">Toyota<\/a>, have been hot, saleable properties lately, several firms, including <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/mercedes_benz\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">Mercedes<\/a>, <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/bmw\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">BMW<\/a> and <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/kia\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">Kia<\/a> have rearranged their futures to emphasize hybrid power. Earlier this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/autos-transportation\/hybrid-vehicles-arent-just-bridge-evs-ford-chief-says-2024-05-30\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:14;\">Ford\u2019s CEO Jim Farley<\/a> identified the hybrid movement as a valid alternative to other power platforms. \u201cWe should stop talking about it as transitional technology,&#8221; Farley told reporters at a conference in May. &#8220;Many of our hybrids in the U.S. are now more profitable than their non-hybrid equivalent,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Audi has engineered a new family of combustion engines for its next generation of PHEV models, which will be able to travel up to 62 miles on electric power thanks to a significantly larger <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/battery\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:15;\">battery<\/a>.\u00a0It recently introduced the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2024\/07\/16\/2025-audi-a5-sedan-and-a5-avant-wagon-unveiled-to-replace-the-a4\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:16;\">new A5,<\/a> its replacement for the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/audi\/a4\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:17;\">A4<\/a> sedan.
