{"id":74696,"date":"2024-07-23T00:03:39","date_gmt":"2024-07-23T04:03:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=74696"},"modified":"2024-07-23T00:03:39","modified_gmt":"2024-07-23T04:03:39","slug":"1143872_2025-porsche-taycan-epa-range","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=74696","title":{"rendered":"2025 Porsche Taycan EPA range grows to 318 miles"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li><strong>EPA range numbers span from 261 to 318 miles with larger Performance Battery Plus<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Those with standard Performance Battery return an EPA 252 to 274 miles of range<br \/><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>All 2025 Taycan models can do 10-80% DC fast-charge in as little as 18 minutes<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The revamped Porsche Taycan earns EPA range numbers of up to 318 miles, the automaker confirmed <span id=\"removed-htmldiff-0\">Monday<\/span> to Green Car Reports.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 2025 Porsche Taycan is now being delivered to U.S. dealerships, and official EPA ranges, as calculated by Porsche and set to be displayed on those window stickers, show that the big improvements in range and efficiency that it\u2019s been touting for this engineering-focused refresh do indeed translate to U.S. ratings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"static-marker-video-player-primis\"\/><\/p>\n<p>With the larger battery pack, termed Performance Battery Plus, ratings <strong>top the range at 318 miles<\/strong><span id=\"removed-htmldiff-1\">. The ratings<\/span> drop to 295 <span id=\"added-htmldiff-3\">EPA-rated<\/span> miles with the Taycan 4S and 292 <span id=\"removed-htmldiff-2\">miles<\/span> with the Taycan <span id=\"removed-htmldiff-3\">Turbo due to its higher-power propulsion system<\/span> and more aggressive wheels and tires. Porsche did that, but it\u2019s only part of the story. The Performance Battery Plus has gone from 93.4 kwh gross and 83.4 kwh usable in the 2024 Taycan up to 105 kwh gross and 97 kwh usable in the 2025 model\u2014roughly a <strong>15% increase in battery capacity<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last year\u2019s Taycan returned up to 246 miles of range, so the 2025 model <strong>goes nearly 30% farther<\/strong>. That standard pack in the Taycan now <span id=\"removed-htmldiff-4\">has\u00a0<\/span>83.6 kwh usable (89 kwh gross). Yes, that\u2019s a couple ticks more than usable in the larger pack for 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the lineup, the 2025 Taycan is also likely to return higher range numbers more of the time. But it made a series of incremental gains along the way\u2014including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1137496_epa-range-figures-rise-for-entire-2023-porsche-taycan-lineup\">updated motor behavior for 2023<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1133350_2022-porsche-taycan-charges-faster-on-road-trips-parks-itself-plays-well-with-android\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span id=\"changed-htmldiff-1\">thermal improvements for 2022<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As Green Car Reports found in a first drive of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1142755_2025-porsche-taycan-ev-test-drive-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2025 Porsche Taycan<\/a> back in April, the refresh at last makes good on the mission of not just one-upping Tesla on technology and driving attributes, but at last being being comparable in terms of how much range you can gain in a short time on a road trip.<\/p>\n<p>Porsche quotes an impressive <strong>10-80% charge time of just 18 minutes<\/strong> for the 2025 Taycan, which has a charge curve that\u2019s been lifted and broadened, with its peak of 320 kw (or 270 kw for the base battery) now taking better advantage of 350-kw CCS connectors. Now we know that in EPA-range terms, 70% of <span id=\"removed-htmldiff-5\">its range<\/span> can equate to 223 miles\u2014an astounding number that now makes the Taycan <span id=\"added-htmldiff-10\">a more serious fast-charging rival<\/span> to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1143806_2025-lucid-air-pure-is-america-s-most-efficient-ev\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span id=\"added-htmldiff-11\">efficiency-leading<\/span> <span id=\"changed-htmldiff-3\">Lucid Air<\/span><\/a> and Tesla Model S<span id=\"removed-htmldiff-7\">,<\/span> even if you put the priority on <span id=\"added-htmldiff-12\">minimizing energy use<\/span> as much as maximizing
