Although it could still happen, <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/guides\/porsche\/\">Porsche<\/a> said the target was too ambitious and the transition \u201cwill take longer than we assumed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-372775\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Despite several highly-anticipated electric vehicles launching over the next few years, Porsche is no longer committing to its 80% EV sales goal in 2030.<\/p>\n<p>The company said in a statement Monday that it could still hit its target, but only if the market allows it. \u201cThe transition to electric vehicles will take longer than we assumed five years ago,\u201d the statement said. Instead, sales will be determined by demand.<\/p>\n<p>Porsche reiterated, \u201cOur product strategy is set up such that we could deliver over 80% of our vehicles as all electric in 2030.\u201d However, that will depend on customer demand.<\/p>\n<p>Porsche is the latest automaker to push back or abandon an EV initiative. Ford, GM, Mercedes-Benz, and several others have made similar comments, mentioning \u201cslower-than-expected\u201d demand.<\/p>\n<p>The comments come after <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2024\/07\/09\/porsche-taycan-deliveries-fall-new-2025my-macan-ev\/\">Porsche\u2019s EV sales fell 51%<\/a> in the first half of 2024 ahead of new model launches. It also includes the new Panamera and hybrid 911. As Blume explains, Porsche is in a \u201cV-shaped\u201d sales cycle with new vehicles rolling out.<\/p>\n<p>After the Macan, Porsche will launch an electric 718, expected to debut by the end of 2024. Codenamed \u201cSUV K1\u201d internally, the EV will rival ultra-luxury automakers like Ferrari\u2019s Purosangue. If the demand is there, Porsche can still hit its 2030 EV sales goal.
