Porsche confirmed the next-gen Cayenne will be electric. Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/guides\/porsche\/\">Porsche<\/a> plans to keep hybrid and gas models around a while longer. Porsche gave us a sneak peek as the first Cayenne Electric prototypes hit the road for testing. Check it out below.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-373229\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The fourth-gen Cayenne will be fully electric, <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.porsche.com\/en\/2024\/products\/porsche-cayenne-drivetrain-product-strategy-36924.html?linkId=300000012616177\">Porsche announced<\/a> Thursday. Porsche said testing is well underway after showing off the first camouflaged prototypes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Cayenne has always defined the sports car in its segment,\u201d Porsche CEO Oliver Blume boasted. Blume added, \u201cIn the middle of the decade, the fourth generation will set standards in the segment as an electric SUV.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Porsche already gave the current Cayenne \u201cone of the most extensive product upgrades\u201d in brand history. But, the fourth-gen model will be \u201cfurther developed with major technological investment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Cayenne Electric is expected to play a big role as Porsche shifts to EVs. Some design elements, like active cooling air flaps, are visible, similar to those of the new <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.porsche.com\/en\/2024\/products\/porsche-new-911-world-premiere-hybrid-36322.html\">911 Carrera GTS<\/a>, Porsche\u2019s first street-legal hybrid 911.<\/p>\n<p>The Porsche Cayenne Electric is expected to officially debut in 2026. The electric Macan starts at $78,800, while the Turbo version costs $105,300.<\/p>\n<p>The news comes after <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2024\/07\/22\/porsche-scales-back-80-ev-sales-goal-2030\/\">Porsche backed off<\/a> its 80% EV sales target by 2030 this week.
