The annual California event is also where Acura rolled out the Precision EV two years ago, a concept that previewed the 2024 ZDX currently on sale.

The platform underpinning Acura’s next EV won’t be in any way related to General Motors’ Ultium EV platform and battery technology featured in the ZDX. It will be a new design developed with parent company Honda, which will use it for various EVs including the 0 (Zero) Series EV family announced in January at 2024 CES.

The platform will feature in-house developed software and be flexible enough to support vehicles in various segments, though the first vehicles will be in the “mid-to-large” segments, Honda has previously said. The targeted range will be 300 miles or more.

Honda 0 Saloon concept

The new EV brand Afeela established by Honda and Sony is also expected to use the platform.

The first Honda EV on the platform is due on sale in the U.S. in 2026.
