{"id":75876,"date":"2024-08-19T12:03:17","date_gmt":"2024-08-19T16:03:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=75876"},"modified":"2024-08-19T12:03:17","modified_gmt":"2024-08-19T16:03:17","slug":"lamborghini-ceo-talks-new-temerario-hybrid-supercar-and-the-yolo-effect-boosting-sales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=75876","title":{"rendered":"Lamborghini CEO talks new Temerario hybrid supercar, and the &#8216;YOLO&#8217; effect boosting sales &#8211; Autoblog"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>CARMEL, Calif. \u2014 <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/lamborghini\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:0;\">Lamborghini<\/a> CEO Stephan Winkelmann will likely go down as one of the most influential leaders in the Italian luxury automaker\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>From getting the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/lamborghini\/gallardo\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">Gallardo<\/a> supercar launched back in the early 2000s, to shepherding the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/lamborghini\/urus\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">Urus<\/a> SUV into the marketplace 15 years or so later to a smashing sales success, much has happened over the years, across his two stints at Lamborghini.<\/p>\n<p>Now with the much-loved Hurac\u00e1n <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/category\/supercars\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">supercar<\/a> heading out to pasture, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2024\/08\/16\/lamborghini-temerario-reveal-twin-turbo-hybrid-v8-monterey-pebble-beach\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">Winkelmann\u2019s latest release is the Temerario<\/a>, the successor to the Hurac\u00e1n.<\/p>\n<p>Though the Temerario lacks the much-loved V-10 naturally aspirated motor that powered the Hurac\u00e1n, Winkelmann believes its evolution will still bring the passion for the Lamborghini faithful. The new <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/lamborghini\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">Lambo<\/a>\u2019s V8 bi-turbo engine still revs to an astounding 10,000 RPM. The <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/lamborghini\/revuelto\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">Revuelto<\/a> is sold out for at least the next year of production, if not longer.<\/p>\n<p>While introducing a brand new, cutting edge supercar is a great success for the automaker, it comes as the luxury consumer <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/rolex-prices-are-falling-and-supplies-are-rising-151919533.html\" data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">has hit some speed bumps<\/a>. (credit: Lamborghini).<br \/>\n <\/figcaption><div class=\"photo-credit\">\n  \u00a0\n <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Winkelmann acknowledges those concerns, but for his particular clientele, they are still buying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince the end of the covid, we have this \u2018YOLO\u2019 effect \u2014 you only live once \u2014 which, despite the global crisis we have here, or the crisis we have here and there, in the markets, geopolitics changing, we&#8217;re still going strong, and the people still want to buy those cars, and we have a long waiting time,\u201d he said when asked about his buyers.<\/p>\n<p>While his fingers are \u201ccrossed,\u201d he said, the sales data shows the Italian company \u2014 part of the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">Volkswagen<\/a> (VWAGY) empire \u2014 is one of the few successes in the luxury automotive world.<\/p>\n<p>One doesn\u2019t have to follow in the footsteps of a storied rival like <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/ferrari\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:14;\">Ferrari<\/a>, if it can build its own organic passion through bold design for its supercars like the Temerario, and cutting edge powertrains that now count hybrid power across all its vehicles. Winkelmann has shown since the release of the Gallardo some 20 years ago, that this is indeed possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year is going in a perfect way, we had another record first six months in 2024,\u201d Winklemann notes. \u201cSo if things are going ahead like this, the year 2024 will be a very good one for Lamborghini.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Can the YOLO effect last through the balance of the year, and beyond?
