With a dashboard inspired by Swiss watchmaking, a hybrid powertrain, and an all-new redesigned lightweight body, the Tourbillion is the latest vehicle built to Bugatti’s uncompromising standard.

Bugatti transformed the automotive world 20 years ago with the release of the Bugatti Veyron – a car so spectacular it needed its own category. Deemed the world’s first hyper sportscar, the 1,001-horsepower machine set the standard for superlative performance and luxury. Similarly impressive is the car that came next: the 1,500-horsepower Bugatti Chiron. Both embodied the mantra of company founder Ettore Bugatti: “If comparable, it is no longer a Bugatti.”

“The Tourbillon had to be incomparable in every respect,” said Emilio Scervo, Bugatti CTO. “With the Tourbillon, we have engineered a car that delivers the best of combustion technology and electrification; free from compromises and built with a timeless dedication to creating a memorable driving experience.”

The most powerful Bugatti to date, the Tourbillon’s hybrid powerplant produces a combined 1,800 horsepower. A leap in technology from the W16 eight-liter quad-turbo engine that powered the Veyron and the Chiron, the Tourbillon features an 8.3-liter naturally aspirated V16 engine – engineered with the help of Cosworth – paired with a front e-Axle with two electric motors and one electric motor mounted at the rear axle. The combustion engine creates 1,000 horsepower, with an added 800 from the electric motors.

And with its 9,000 rpm redline, the Tourbillon at full throttle delivers a visceral wail.

In the world of horology, a tourbillon is a Swiss invention of the early 1800s. Considered the pinnacle of watchmaking, a tourbillon counteracts the effects of gravity to ensure precise timekeeping. Two centuries later, it is still in use today by some of the finest luxury brands. Inspired by this endearing craftsmanship, the design and engineering teams at Bugatti developed a completely analog instrument cluster, crafted by Swiss watchmakers.

To maintain a timeless design, the high-definition touchscreen that modern car owners have come to expect is hidden from view until needed, deploying from the top of the center console in portrait mode for the reversing camera in just two seconds and full landscape mode in five seconds.
