Polestar on Wednesday named Philipp R\u00f6mers as its new design chief<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

He replaces Maximilian Missoni<\/a> who led Polestar design for the past six years, and is taking up a new role at a different company.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

R\u00f6mers has more than 25 years of experience in automotive design, with most of the years spent at Volkswagen Group<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Prior to joining Polestar, he was head of exterior design at VW Group brand Audi, where he oversaw projects like the new A6 E-Tron and Q6 E-Tron<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath<\/strong> was also a former designer at Audi. He joined Volvo as its design chief in 2012 and was appointed Polestar’s CEO when the Volvo performance division became a standalone brand in 2017.<\/p>\n

\u201cPhilipp\u2019s modern approach to automotive design and experience from the luxury, performance segment will really support us as we take the next step in developing our model lineup,\u201d Ingenlath said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Designs for Polestar’s next models, the 5 sedan<\/a> and 6 sports car<\/a>, have already been shown. Beyond those models, Polestar will launch a model dubbed the 7, a vehicle whose design may be the first project at Polestar for R\u00f6mers.<\/p>\n

Ingenlath earlier this year revealed that the 7, due around 2027, will be an indirect replacement<\/a> for the current 2 compact hatchback. Ingenlath said Polestar doesn’t want to redesign the same vehicle over and over again but wants to introduce new form factors<\/strong> to ensure the brand remains innovative and fresh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
