{"id":76238,"date":"2024-08-28T09:05:18","date_gmt":"2024-08-28T13:05:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=76238"},"modified":"2024-08-28T09:05:18","modified_gmt":"2024-08-28T13:05:18","slug":"1144289_porsche-to-sell-gas-panamera-alongside-electric-successor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=76238","title":{"rendered":"Porsche to sell gas Panamera alongside electric successor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Porsche will continue selling Panameras equipped with gas and plug-in hybrid powertrains after the launch of an electric Panamera later this decade.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s according to Porsche R&amp;D boss Michael Steiner, who in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-news\/new-cars\/porsche-predicts-bigger-role-e-fuels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Autocar<\/a> published on Tuesday said Porsche will update its gas and plug-in hybrid powertrains to ensure they stay on the <strong>right side of emissions rules<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"static-marker-video-player-primis\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Porsche in July announced a <strong>similar plan for the Cayenne<\/strong>. The shift, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1143899_porsche-changes-strategy-as-ev-demand-slows\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced by Porsche<\/a> in July, is due to slower than expected <strong>take-up rates for EVs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1143838_2025-porsche-panamera-gts-turbo-s-e-hybrid-price\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Panamera was last redesigned<\/a> for the 2024 model year and for 2025 the lineup includes <strong>two gas options and four plug-in hybrids<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The electric Panamera<\/strong> will use a dedicated EV platform, likely to be the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1137321_porsche-3-row-electric-suv-to-ride-on-new-ssp-sport-platform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SSP Sport platform<\/a> Porsche is developing for its three-row SUV due around 2027. The electric Panamera should arrive after that date.<\/p>\n<p>Steiner didn&#8217;t mention any details about the electric Panamera. It&#8217;s possible the car will grow in size to provide a buffer with the Taycan which Porsche plans to keep in the lineup. The Taycan is only a few inches shorter than the current Panamera.
