{"id":76240,"date":"2024-08-28T09:05:20","date_gmt":"2024-08-28T13:05:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=76240"},"modified":"2024-08-28T09:05:20","modified_gmt":"2024-08-28T13:05:20","slug":"1144290_jlr-once-again-offering-classic-defenders-with-v-8-power","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=76240","title":{"rendered":"JLR once again offering classic Defenders with V-8 power"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The original Defender&#8217;s production run lasted more than three decades<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>JLR will now offer an original fully restored by the factory<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The restored examples are fitted with V-8 engines and start at over $250,000<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Production of the original Land Rover Defender <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1102123_land-rover-defender-production-at-solihull-comes-to-an-end\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ended in 2016<\/a> after a run lasting more than three decades, but there&#8217;s still demand for new versions of the iconic off-roader, even as JLR today offers a much-improved successor.<\/p>\n<p>While JLR has no plans to put the original Defender back into production, it&#8217;s decided to do the next best thing: offer classic Defenders <strong>revamped by the factory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"static-marker-video-player-primis\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The automaker on Wednesday announced the Land Rover Classic Defender V8 by Works Bespoke. That&#8217;s a convoluted name, but what it basically means is a V-8-powered classic Defender fully restored under the <strong>Land Rover Classic<\/strong> department&#8217;s new Works Bespoke personalization service.<\/p>\n<p>JLR offered a similar vehicle in 2018, albeit limited to just 150 units. There&#8217;s also a long list of accessories available. For real adventurers, the list includes an expedition cage, ladder, and winch, roof\u2011mounted lights, and all-terrain tires.<\/p>\n<p>Under the hood sits <strong>JLR&#8217;s own 5.0-liter V-8<\/strong>, in naturally aspirated form. The engine delivers 405 hp and will see the vehicle hit 60 mph from rest in about 5.6 seconds. The top speed is 106 mph.<\/p>\n<p>Along with the new engine, the vehicle also benefits from an 8-speed automatic, uprated brakes and handling kit (springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars), and a <strong>choice of wheels<\/strong> ranging from 16-18 inches in diameter. There are updates for the interior, too, including available two-tone configurations and premium materials normally reserved for JLR&#8217;s Range Rover lineup. However, there are several companies that offer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1115360_east-coast-defender-rolls-out-heritage-collection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">restored classic Defenders<\/a> on these shores, including some that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1140949_jay-leno-tests-raglan-s-tesla-powered-land-rover-defender\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">offer electric conversions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For existing classic Defender owners, JLR also offers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1124316_land-rover-classic-performance-upgrades-defender\" target=\"_blank\"
