Sales began in 2019 with the limited-edition Polestar 1 plug-in hybrid coupe, followed by the all-electric Polestar 2 in 2020. The Polestar 5 fastback is also slated to start production next year, followed by the Polestar 6 roadster in 2026. The brand is also <strong>testing prototype battery cells<\/strong> it claims can do a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1143020_polestar-reports-drivable-ev-with-10-minute-10-80-charging\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">10%-80% charge in just 10 minutes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, Volvo earlier this year announced that it would <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1142186_volvo-ends-polestar-funding-as-ev-startup-struggles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stop funding Polestar<\/a><\/strong>, while retaining about 18% of Polestar shares, giving Geely greater control of the brand.
