{"id":76525,"date":"2024-09-04T12:05:02","date_gmt":"2024-09-04T16:05:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=76525"},"modified":"2024-09-04T12:05:02","modified_gmt":"2024-09-04T16:05:02","slug":"get-ready-vw-to-release-chatgpt-integration-for-2025-models-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=76525","title":{"rendered":"Get ready: VW to release ChatGPT integration for 2025 models this week &#8211; Autoblog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Even the most advanced AI systems today have trouble delivering accurate information in a sensible fashion, but that hasn\u2019t stopped <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:0;\">Volkswagen<\/a> from swinging for the fences with its new ChatGPT integration. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2024\/01\/08\/vw-integrating-chatgpt-into-its-ida-voice-assistant\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:1;\">Earlier this year<\/a>, the automaker announced the feature for European markets, and now, we\u2019re learning that AI is coming to <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:2;\">VW<\/a>\u2019s American fleet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2023\/03\/12\/gm-chatgpt-microsoft-vehicles\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:3;\">The integration<\/a> will debut on September 6 in the 2025 <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/jetta\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:4;\">Jetta<\/a> and <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/jetta+gli\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:5;\">Jetta GLI<\/a> and the 2024 <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/id.4\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:6;\">ID.4<\/a> with the 82-kWh <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/battery\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:7;\">battery<\/a> pack. VW said other ID.4 owners would have access later this year. Most 2025 Volkswagens will eventually get the feature, including the <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/taos\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">Taos<\/a>, <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/golf+gti\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">Golf GTI<\/a> and <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/golf+r\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">Golf R<\/a>, ID. Buzz, and <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/tiguan\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">Tiguan<\/a>. Owners will have to sign up for a Plus Speech with AI subscription to gain access to the features, but the automaker is offering a three-year free trial for the two ID models and a one-year trial for some others. Jetta and Taos owners must purchase the subscription from the get-go.<\/p>\n<p>Based on Cerence Chat Pro, the system lets users control the navigation, change songs and other infotainment settings, set climate control options, and ask questions about general knowledge topics. Though it requires a \u201cHello IDA\u201d or \u201cHello Volkswagen\u201d voice prompt from the user, VW said that other functions are controlled through more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2023\/12\/19\/mercedes-introducing-ai-powered-virtual-assistant-at-ces\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">conversational prompts<\/a>, such as telling the system that you are chilly to turn up the heat. If a user asks a question the system can\u2019t process locally, it connects to a cloud server, where Cerence Chat Pro processes it and delivers a result.<\/p>\n<p>All of this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2024\/09\/04\/ford-patents-way-to-pipe-ads-into-your-vehicles-cabin\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">sounds very creepy<\/a>, even for those of us who are relatively on board with the march of technological improvements. The good news is that VW\u2019s AI integration won\u2019t access vehicle data, so there\u2019s no <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/robot\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:14;\">robot<\/a> overlord monitoring your driving habits.
