A 23.3-kwh battery pack provides 50 miles of EPA electric range.<\/p>\n<p>In a test drive of the GLE 450e on roads around the Mercedes-Benz factory in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, we found that this SUV <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1139405_test-drive-review-2024-mercedes-benz-gle-450e-4matic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">does hybrid the right way<\/a>. Not only does it provide ample electric range on paper, but a reasonably powerful electric motor (it&#8217;s rated at 134 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque) makes it easier to stay in all-electric mode.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper\" readability=\"7\"><img decoding=\"async\" name=\"tccimg_100950742_m\" title=\"2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class (GLE 450)\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAD\/ACwAAAAAAQABAAACADs=\" alt=\"2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class (GLE 450)\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"683\" data-url=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/2025-mercedes-benz-gle-class_100950742_l.webp\" data-src-h=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/hug\/2025-mercedes-benz-gle-class_100950742_h.webp\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/2025-mercedes-benz-gle-class_100950742_l.webp\" data-src-l=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/2025-mercedes-benz-gle-class_100950742_l.webp\" data-src-m=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/med\/2025-mercedes-benz-gle-class_100950742_m.webp\" data-src-s=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/sml\/2025-mercedes-benz-gle-class_100950742_s.webp\" class=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class (GLE 450)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Mercedes is expected to add a second GLE plug-in hybrid to its U.S. lineup in 2026, but this one will be more focused on performance. The AMG GLE 53 Hybrid will combine a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 with a torquier electric motor for an estimated 536 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, getting it from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds. A similar powertrain is used in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1145244_2025-mercedes-benz-amg-e-53-hybrid-test-drive-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2025 Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid<\/a> sedan.<\/p>\n<p>Mercedes remains committed to plug-in hybrid powertrains for its AMG performance models, and continues to offer a plug-in hybrid version of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1142652_2025-mercedes-glc-350e-phev-fast-charging-electric-range\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the smaller GLC SUV<\/a> alongside the GLE for 2025.
