Volkswagen previewed its cheapest EV for the first time on Wednesday. It will kick off a new series of entry-level electric vehicles, with starting prices at \u20ac20,000, or just over $20,000.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-400749\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-volkswagen-teases-its-cheapest-ev-for-the-first-time\">Volkswagen teases its cheapest EV for the first time<\/h2>\n<p>At a meeting at its Wolfsburg plant on Wednesday, Volkswagen gave employees a sneak peek at the new model. The auto giant confirmed it will be a part of a new small electric car lineup.<\/p>\n<p>Volkswagen said the new entry-level EV, with a base price of \u20ac20,000 ($20,000), \u201cwill be attractive for a wide variety\u201d of buyers.<\/p>\n<p>The first model in the new series will be the production version of <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2024\/11\/22\/volkswagens-low-cost-id-2-ev-on-track-suv-version\/\">the ID.2all<\/a>, which was unveiled in March 2022. Volkswagen also teased an SUV version, which will follow in its upcoming entry-level EV lineup.<\/p>\n<p>Volkswagen will introduce the show car for its new entry-level EV. Shafer stressed that the plant would \u201cremain the heart of the Volkswagen brand in the electric age.\u201d It will also produce the next-gen electric Golf on Volkswagen\u2019s new SSP platform alongside the new T-Roc EV.<\/p>\n<p>For those in the US, don\u2019t get too excited. The new entry-level EV likely won\u2019t make the trip overseas.
