The world\u2019s largest EV maker is making smart driving more affordable by upgrading its top-selling EVs with new tech, for free. Even its cheapest model, the Seagull, which starts at under $10,000 (69,900 yuan), is getting a smart upgrade.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-401203\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-byd-evs-just-got-a-free-smart-driving-upgrade\">BYD EVs just got a free smart driving upgrade<\/h2>\n<p>At its vehicle intelligence event, BYD launched 21 of its top-selling models, which now include its \u201cGod Eye\u201d smart driving system. Even better: There\u2019s no extra charge for the new tech.<\/p>\n<p>BYD\u2019s CEO, Wang Chuanfu, said during a live-streamed event that \u201cgood technology should be available to everyone.\u201d That\u2019s why the company is giving its top-selling electric cars a smart upgrade for free.<\/p>\n<p>BYD announced during the event that 11 EVs from its Ocean Series are getting the upgrade. The lineup includes some of its best sellers, including the Seagull, <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/guides\/byd-dolphin\/\">Dolphin<\/a>, and Seal EV models. Vehicles from other lineups, such as the Han, Song, and Yuan, will also feature the new tech, including plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) like the Seal 05 DM-i.<\/p>\n<p>Smart driving features are typically reserved for more premium models, like Tesla. The \u201cGods Eye C\u201d will be used for BYD-brand vehicles, such as the Seagull. BYD showed off its smart driving tech with a driverless Yangwang U9 electric supercar jumping over spikes. According to a recent study, BYD ranked <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2025\/01\/27\/byd-first-china-car-sales-revenue-even-with-prices-under-17k\/\">first in car sales revenue<\/a> in China last year.
