While the setup delivers a stout 671 hp, it also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1138133_review-2024-mercedes-benz-amg-c-63-s-e-performance-test-drive-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">adds considerable weight<\/a> and complexity to the car.<\/p>\n<p>BMW isn\u2019t the only automaker looking to preserve the V-8. Porsche, after <strong>reversing its decision last summer to primarily sell EVs<\/strong> by the end of the decade, announced plans to continue offering gas-powered vehicles, including some with V-8 engines, well <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1143920_gas-and-hybrid-porsche-cayennes-to-live-on-beyond-2030\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">into the next decade<\/a>. The automaker is now investing in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1145148_porsche-to-develop-new-gas-and-hybrid-cars-alongside-evs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">additional gas models<\/a> for its lineup.<\/p>\n<p>While BMW will keep the V-8 around, the engine may increasingly need to be paired with hybrid systems to meet emissions regulations. The automaker has already taken this approach with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1145178_2025-bmw-m5-test-drive-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">its latest M5<\/a>, which pairs a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 with an electric motor integrated into the transmission in a plug-in hybrid configuration.
