{"id":80461,"date":"2025-02-14T00:03:42","date_gmt":"2025-02-14T05:03:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=80461"},"modified":"2025-02-14T00:03:42","modified_gmt":"2025-02-14T05:03:42","slug":"1145751_chevy-blazer-ev-r-nascar-prototype-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=80461","title":{"rendered":"Chevy Blazer EV.R NASCAR prototype debuts at 2025 Daytona 500"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was last summer that NASCAR unveiled a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1143729_nascar-reveals-ev-race-car-prototype\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prototype electric race car<\/a> with a crossover-like body, as a means to demonstrate the series&#8217; commitment to reducing emissions.<\/p>\n<p>Ford followed up with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1145636_ford-mustang-mach-e-nascar-ev-prototype\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">its own prototype<\/a> styled like <strong>the Mustang Mach-E<\/strong>, featuring the same specifications as NASCAR&#8217;s own prototype, namely a powertrain consisting of a <strong>trio of motors and a 78-kwh battery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"static-marker-video-player-primis\"\/><\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Chevrolet rolled out its own prototype, with the Blazer EV being the basis. Chevy&#8217;s prototype, dubbed the Blazer EV.R NASCAR prototype, will formally debut at the <strong>2025 Daytona 500<\/strong>, set to run on Feb. 16.<\/p>\n<p>Once again the prototype packs a trio of motors fed by a 78-kwh battery. Chevy said those motors deliver a <strong>combined output of more than 1,300 hp<\/strong>, and they were developed closely with NASCAR to arrive at certain parameters and technical elements. However, don&#8217;t expect to see something like the prototype racing in a NASCAR electric series anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p>While there are rumors such a series is already in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1136686_nascar-electric-series-in-planning-stages-according-to-alleged-official-presentation-slides\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the planning stages<\/a>, any launch is likely some time away still. So far, NASCAR has stated that these prototype only serve to provide a glimpse of what&#8217;s possible \u201c<strong>years down the road<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chevy will have another Blazer EV on hand at this weekend&#8217;s Daytona 500. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1145710_2025-chevy-blazer-ev-ss-price\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2025 Blazer EV SS<\/a> will serve as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1145731_2025-chevy-blazer-ev-ss-daytona-500\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">official pace car<\/a> for the race, with <strong>actor Alan Ritchson<\/strong> to hop behind the wheel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was last summer that NASCAR unveiled a prototype electric race car with a crossover-like body, as a means to demonstrate the series&#8217; commitment to reducing emissions.
