This standard is already used by several other automakers, including Audi, Hyundai, Kia, Porsche, and Volkswagen.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"static-marker-video-player-primis\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1144334_test-drive-review-2025-volvo-ex90-3-row-electric-suv-ev\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EX90 electric midsize SUV<\/a> that went on sale last year shares the same <strong>SPA2 dedicated EV platform<\/strong> as the ES90. However, it still features a 400-volt electrical system. Volvo has designed every component in the ES90\u2019s electrical system to operate on 800 volts, including the battery cells, motors (which are also lighter), inverter, charging, and thermal systems.<\/p>\n<p>This means retrofitting the system to EX90s already on the road is unlikely. A 10-80% charge can also be completed in as little as 20 minutes, while total range should be 435 miles, according to Volvo.<\/p>\n<p>In comparison, the EX90 adds only 112 miles of range in 10 minutes of charging and requires 30 minutes to charge from 10-80%. Volvo has not disclosed the ES90&#8217;s battery size, but it is expected to be smaller than the <strong>EX90&#8217;s 111-kwh unit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>teaser photos released by the automaker, the ES90 appears to have a handsome and distinctive design. The look is noticeably more blocky compared to the current S90, while the roof follows a clear fastback shape. If approved for U.S. sale, it will likely arrive as a 2026 model.<\/p>\n<p>The ES90 is just one of <strong>five new or updated Volvos<\/strong> launching this year. Earlier in February, Volvo revealed the rugged <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1145714_2026-volvo-ex30-cross-country-price\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EX30 Cross Country<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1145766_updated-volvo-xc60-revealed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an updated XC60<\/a>. Additional models expected include an updated S60 compact sedan and a long-range plug-in hybrid tailored for the Chinese market. The current S60 will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1143552_volvo-s60-sedan-exits-us-after-2025-model-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exit the U.S. market<\/a> after 2025 and is not expected to return.
