It&#8217;s in keeping with the arbitrary slashing of federal employment and spending undertaken by Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"static-marker-video-player-primis\"\/><\/p>\n<p>According to the NY Times, Trump said Zeldin &#8220;thinks he&#8217;s going to be cutting 65 or so percent of the people from environmental. Trump&#8217;s 65% figure was soon contradicted by an EPA official, who told reporters that the President has been referring to overall agency budget cuts, not a 65% reduction in personnel.<\/p>\n<p>The EPA had 15,123 full-time employees at the end of December, according to the latest federal budget. It would mean 65% less people to respond to hazardous cleanups, to do <strong>air monitoring and lead abatement<\/strong>,&#8221; Powell told the Times, adding that the administration had not informed the union of staffing cuts.<\/p>\n<p>Such cuts would be in line with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1144507_trump-ev-policy-jobs-auto-industry-made-in-america\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Trump Administration&#8217;s agenda<\/a> of attacking federal bureaucracy generally, and anything related to climate-change policy in particular.<\/p>\n<p>The administration has moved to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1145700_trump-dot-freezes-ev-charger-funding-demands-new-state-plans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">freeze funding<\/a> for a national EV charging network\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greencarreports.com\/news\/1145713_automakers-want-trump-dot-to-restart-ev-charger-funding\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">much to the chagrin of automakers<\/a>.
