The company confirmed an EV version of the Yaris is in the works, but it may be a while before you can get your hands on one. Here\u2019s what we know about the <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/guides\/toyota\/\">Toyota<\/a> Yaris EV so far.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-405681\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-when-will-toyota-launch-the-yaris-ev\">When will Toyota launch the Yaris EV?<\/h2>\n<p>This week, it seems to be all about Toyota. The Japanese auto giant went on the offensive, revealing three new electric SUVs set to launch in Europe by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Although the Yaris is not one of them, executives confirmed an EV version is still part of the plans. Toyota Europe\u2019s director of marketing and product development, Andrea Carlucci, told <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-news\/new-cars\/toyota-planning-electric-yaris-%E2%80%93-now-not-right-moment\">Autocar<\/a><\/em> that \u201cThis is the idea\u201d regarding an electric Yaris.<\/p>\n<p>It may be a few years before we see it actually hit the streets though. Carlucci added, \u201cThe right moment will arrive, but this is not quite now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t<span class=\"outbrain-ad-label\">Advertisement &#8211; scroll for more content<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Toyota \u201cdeliberately decided to start in the fastest-growing segments\u201d with a full range of electric SUVs. Toyota offers several hybrid models in Europe, including the Corolla Cross, C-HR, and RAV4.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-electrek-s-take\">Electrek\u2019s Take<\/h2>\n<p>The Yaris is Toyota\u2019s top-selling vehicle in the UK, accounting for over 20% of sales last year. It\u2019s also its second best seller in Europe. So, an EV version will be key over the next few years.<\/p>\n<p>Toyota has its hands full with three new electric SUVs arriving in 2025 and another three more next year, which could include a pickup, fastback, and another SUV.<\/p>\n<p>Considering this, we likely won\u2019t see the Yaris EV until closer toward 2030. By then, Toyota is promising significant improvements in battery, software, and other EV tech which could help it compete with low-cost rivals from China and South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>Would you buy an electric Yaris?
