Production will be handled at the same Volkswagen Group plant in Bratislava, Slovakia, where the current gas-powered Cayenne is built.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"static-marker-video-player-primis\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Porsche confirmed plans for an electric Cayenne more than a year ago, and <strong>prototypes have been in public view<\/strong> for most of that time, including for both the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1140132_2027-porsche-cayenne-ev-spy-shots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">regular Cayenne body style<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1145691_2028-porsche-cayenne-coupe-ev-spy-shots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more rakish Cayenne Coupe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The electric Cayenne will be a true next-generation design based on VW Group&#8217;s <strong>PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform<\/strong>, which also underpins the electric Macan.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image_wrapper first_wrapper\" readability=\"7\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"tccimg_100947352_m\" title=\"2024 Porsche Macan Electric Turbo\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAD\/ACwAAAAAAQABAAACADs=\" alt=\"2024 Porsche Macan Electric Turbo\" width=\"640\" height=\"425\" class=\"first_image lazy\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"680\" data-url=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/2024-porsche-macan_100947352_l.webp\" data-src-h=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/hug\/2024-porsche-macan_100947352_h.webp\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/2024-porsche-macan_100947352_l.webp\" data-src-l=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/lrg\/2024-porsche-macan_100947352_l.webp\" data-src-m=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/med\/2024-porsche-macan_100947352_m.webp\" data-src-s=\"https:\/\/images.hgmsites.net\/sml\/2024-porsche-macan_100947352_s.webp\"\/><\/p>\n<p>2024 Porsche Macan Electric Turbo<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>For the electric Macan, the platform accommodates a 100-kwh (95-kwh usable) battery pack and a motor driving each axle. Combined output for the Macan EV currently tops out at 630 hp in the Turbo model, and even higher outputs are likely for the electric Cayenne, <strong>possibly via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1126297_porsche-4-motor-electric-powertrain-promises-ultimate-control\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a quad-motor setup<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the arrival of the electric Cayenne, the current gas-powered Cayenne\u2014which has been on sale since the 2019 model year and received a major update for 2024\u2014will stick around. Despite its age, <strong>Porsche sold 102,889 examples<\/strong> last year, accounting for almost one out of every three sales at the automaker.<\/p>\n<p>Due to its popularity and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1145148_porsche-to-develop-new-gas-and-hybrid-cars-alongside-evs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">slower-than-expected<\/a> adoption of EVs, especially in the premium sector, Porsche plans to keep the gas-powered Cayenne on sale well into the next decade, with further updates planned to keep it fresh. Another round of updates is expected next year, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorauthority.com\/news\/1145445_2027-porsche-cayenne-coupe-spy-shots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prototypes already spotted<\/a>. These updates will likely align some of the gas-powered Cayenne&#8217;s technology with that of the electric Cayenne.<\/p>\n<p>This won&#8217;t be the case for the gas-powered Macan, which ends production in 2026.
