These are the first such assets deployed in the US, following a pair of fully autonomous Toro LH518iB battery-electric underground loaders deployed at the New Gold Inc. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=%24NGD&amp;oq=%24NGD&amp;gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBggAEEUYOzIGCAAQRRg70gEIMTAxOWowajeoAgCwAgA&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\">$NGD<\/a>) New Afton mine in British Columbia, Canada, <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2024\/12\/28\/first-autonomous-electric-loaders-in-north-america-get-to-work\/\">late last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re proud that Sandvik BEVs will help contribute to an increased supply of critical minerals, supporting the continued electrification of society,\u201d says\u00a0Mats Eriksson, President of Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions. \u201cLower fuel expenses and maintenance costs coupled with longer equipment lifespan will enable a more efficient, economical and sustainable mining operation at Hermosa.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Hermosa project is currently the only mine\u00a0that could produce two federally designated critical minerals \u2014 manganese and zinc \u2013\u00a0in\u00a0the United States.
