It says that it is on track for volume production of the electric semi truck in 2026.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-413300\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Tesla Semi was first scheduled to go into production in 2019, but it has faced numerous delays.<\/p>\n<p>Now, it appears that there is finally some momentum to bring it to volume production.<\/p>\n<p>For the last two years, Tesla has been working to build a new factory next to Gigafactory Nevada, where it builds the battery packs and drive units for most of its electric vehicles built in North America.<\/p>\n<p>\t<span class=\"outbrain-ad-label\">Advertisement &#8211; scroll for more content<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Today, Tesla released a \u201cprogress update on the factory, confirming that it finished building and it\u2019s now working on deploying the production lines:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed alignwide is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe id=\"post-youtube-video-1\" title=\"Semi Factory Progress Update | Tesla\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U7Em2I7-DJ0?feature=oembed&amp;rel=0&amp;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen=\"\">[embedded content]<\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Tesla had previously mentioned aiming for volume production by 2025, but it is now only talking about starting production toward the end of the year and ramping up next year.<\/p>\n<p>The automaker reiterated its planned production capacity of 50,000 units.<\/p>\n<p>We recently reported that an early Tesla Semi customer, Ryder, stated that <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2025\/04\/04\/tesla-semi-suffers-delays-dramatic-price-increase\/\">the electric truck program is experiencing more delays and a price increase described as \u201cdramatic.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>They now expect to take deliveries of their first trucks later in 2026 and said that the price has increased \u201cdramatically,\u201d leading them to scale back their pilot program from 42 to 18 Tesla Semi trucks.<\/p>\n<p>When originally unveiling the Tesla Semi in 2017, the automaker mentioned prices of\u00a0$150,000 for a 300-mile range truck\u00a0and\u00a0$180,000\u00a0for the 500-mile version. Tesla also took orders for a \u201cFounder\u2019s Series Semi\u201d at\u00a0$200,000.<\/p>\n<p>However, Tesla didn\u2019t update the prices when launching the \u201cproduction version\u201d of the truck in late 2022.
