With prices starting at under $10,000 in China, it\u2019s the cheapest EV in <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/guides\/byd\/\">BYD\u2019s<\/a> lineup. And with plans to launch it in new overseas markets soon, the Seagull is expected to see even more demand.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-414071\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-byd-s-top-selling-ev-in-april-starts-at-under-10-000\">BYD\u2019s top-selling EV in April starts at under $10,000<\/h2>\n<p>There\u2019s no denying BYD\u2019s growing presence in the global auto industry. The Chinese auto giant just posted i<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2025\/05\/01\/byd-hits-blowout-april-sales-more-evs-sold-than-hybrids\/\">ts best month of 2025<\/a> in April, selling 380,089 new energy vehicles, including EVs and PHEVs.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time in over a year, fully electric vehicles outsold hybrids. BYD sold 195,740 purely electric cars last month, up 45% from April 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The Seagull was BYD\u2019s top-selling EV with 55,028 models sold last month alone. It\u2019s part of BYD\u2019s Ocean and Dynasty brands, which accounted for 347,053 of its <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BYDGlobal\/status\/1917962072216031291\/photo\/1\">total sales<\/a> in April. The premium Denza brand added 15,388, while Fang Cheng Bao and Yangwang sold 10,039 and 135 vehicles, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>\t<span class=\"outbrain-ad-label\">Advertisement &#8211; scroll for more content<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Perhaps even more importantly, BYD set a new overseas sales record for the fifth straight month with nearly 80,000 vehicles sold.
