With a high-revving 10,000 rpm redline and a curb weight of 2,057 pounds (dry) owing to its carbon-fiber monocoque, it gets to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, and its top speed is rated at 200 mph. One of the most striking features of the Solus GT is its fighter-jet style canopy, which has been enhanced on this particular example owing to its special livery.

This striking presentation is part of a broader celebration of the Woking brand’s heritage this weekend, with McLaren’s unveiling of a special ‘Riviera’ livery for both MCL39 F1 cars that will run through Monaco and Barcelona race weekends. The design takes inspiration from the team’s first-race winning car, the M7A.

This Solus GT, meanwhile, wears a livery inspired by three-time F1 World Champion Ayrton Senna’s iconic red and white Marlboro MP4/4 F1 race car, and aligns with the owner’s P1 GTR. A closer look reveals an MSO (McLaren Special Operations) badge, and unique details like a Brazilian flag near the roof air-intake and an iconic quote from Senna himself on the door sill that reads “If you no longer go for a gap that exists, you’re no longer a racing driver.” This Solus GT’s prominent position in the Monaco harbour is just a mere glimpse of what’s to come as the grand prix weekend unfolds in the principality.

<iframe title="MCLAREN SOLUS GT (SHORT REVIEW)" width="500" height="281" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/MF2dIN6azsY?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer;
