Based on the popular all-terrain Nomad platform, Velotric has ratcheted up the action with a full-suspension version that doesn’t skimp on the features.

The Velotric Nomad 2X doesn’t just offer full suspension, the holy grail of e-bike riders hoping for the most comfortable ride, but it opts for air suspension, one of the higher quality options for achieving the feat.

Sure, some might question the logic of opting for weight-saving air suspension on an already hefty 80 lb (36 kg) electric bike. But there’s no doubt that the ride is going to feel extra epic on even the harshest terrain. The 120mm travel air fork is matched with 80mm of travel in the rear suspension, all riding on gloriously fat 26×4″ Kenda tires.

The drivetrain consists of a 48T chainring feeding an 8-speed Shimano Acera derailleur, all paired with a combined torque/cadence sensor setup that allows riders to swap back and forth between the two different styles of pedal assist sensors at will. Let’s be honest though – most people aren’t going to be pedaling this massive e-bike very much, and so the thumb throttle powering a 48V 750W rear hub motor with 105 Nm of torque is going to come in pretty darn handy.

Advertisement – scroll for more content

For extra range on this powerful and hefty e-bike, a UL-listed 48V 16.7Ah battery is neatly integrated into the downtube and easily removable for charging. Its 801 Wh of capacity is said to be capable of 50 miles (80 km) of range on the throttle or 75 miles (120 km) of range on the pedal assist.

The bike comes set up in Class 2 mode out of the box, meaning the throttle only takes riders up to 20 mph (32 km/h). But for those who want extra speed, the bike can be placed in Class 3 mode to reach speeds as high as 28 mph (45 km/h). Or for riders who want to use trails restricted to Class 1 e-bikes, the bike can be neutered down to Class 1 as well.

With an MSRP of $2,399, you’d expect the bike to come with a number of extra features, and that’s exactly the case.

Around the bike, riders will find add-ons like Apple FindMy location tracking, LED lighting including bright headlight and rear turn signals, USB-C outlet on the 3.5″ color display for charging your electronics, IPX7 waterproof rating on the battery (submersible up to 3 feet or 1 meter), IPX6 waterproof rating on the rest of the bike (pressure washer-ready), and some pretty crazy weight ratings.

Just how crazy? Well, most e-bikes don’t come with tow ratings, but the Velotric Nomax 2X has a 1,000 lb (450 kg) tow rating. I’m not saying you should hook up a U-Haul trailer to it, but I am saying that, apparently, you could. It also has an extremely high payload capacity of 560 lb (254 kg). That means three of me could theoretically ride the bike and still have room for my wife on the handlebars! The rear rack has a 120 lb (54 kg) weight rating by itself, so you can really load that thing up.

Riders can get Over-The-Air (OTA) updates for the bike via the smartphone app, and there’s even a new Stealth Mode that blacks out the headlight, reduces the LCD display brightness, lowers the motor noise level, and activates a customizable speed limit. It’s perfect for sneaking up on that buck or a nighttime insertion into Kandahar.

Available now in either blue or grey colorways, the Nomad 2X comes in both a step-over and a step-through variant for increased accessibility. We’ll have our hands on one shortly to let you know what we think. Until then, lets hear your thoughts on the new Velotric Nomad 2X in the comments below!

FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links. More.

Velotric is breaking new ground – and blazing new trails – with the launch of its newest electric bike model, the Nomad 2X.
