That initial remit <em>also<\/em> specified hybrid-electric power and up to 30 kW of on-board power generation, which (to me) reads like a perfect opportunity for Mack to take its highly capable Mack MD Electric, add a compact, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.volvopenta.com\/en-us\/industrial\/industrial-engines\/special-vehicles\/\">quiet-running 105 kW D5 ICE from Mack\u2019s parent company<\/a>, Volvo, <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2025\/04\/05\/revolt-extended-range-electric-semi-trucks-score-their-first-customer\/\">in a ReVolt-style EREV setup<\/a>, and roll out.<\/p>\n<p>All that said, Mack Trucks and its military development branch, Mack Defense, are playing the MTT prototype\u2019s specs close to the chest. The ability to generate fuel on the move with solar panels, scavenge it from found infrastructure, <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2024\/10\/15\/gm-reveals-next-gen-tactical-vehicle-with-electric-silent-drive-tech\/\">and operating with high performance in relative silence give EVs a tactical advantage that\u2019s hard to beat<\/a>.
