At the same time, it seems like Stellantis is giving up on its highly-publicized AutoDrive Level 3\u00a0ADAS.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is this the beginning of the end of self-driving hype<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-432204\"\/><\/p>\n<p><em>Reuters<\/em> is reporting that several inside sources have Stellantis shelving its STLA AutoDrive Level 3 ADAS program over of high costs, technological challenges, and \u2013\u00a0<em>crucially<\/em> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2024\/10\/10\/half-of-ubers-riders-say-no-to-self-driving-cars-highlighting-trust-issues\/\">ongoing concerns about consumer trust in self-driving technology<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A 2025 survey from <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2025\/02\/02\/aaa-still-exists-and-theyve-made-a-new-deal-with-chargepoint\/\">AAA<\/a> indicates that more than 60% of American drivers are \u201cafraid\u201d to ride in a self-driving car, while only 13% think the development of self-driving technology should be a priority \u2013\u00a0but what might be more disturbing for companies that are deeply invested in autonomy is that the public\u2019s attitudes don\u2019t seem to be improving.<\/p>\n<p>\t<span class=\"outbrain-ad-label\">Advertisement &#8211;
