Cross SUV is coming soon, an electric counterpart to the popular Volkswagen T-Cross.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The so-called &#8220;legacy&#8221; car companies have faced an interesting conundrum in recent years: what on Earth are they supposed to call their electric vehicles? Do they give these things unique names, or lean on the strength of the established models that everyone knows and loves?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>More and more, they&#8217;re moving toward the latter plan. Volkswagen is the latest to make such a move, announcing today that the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/682384\/vw-id2all-concept-walkaround-brand-ceo\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22682384%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22vw-id2all-concept-walkaround-brand-ceo%22%7D\">VW ID.2all<\/a> compact electric hatchback will go into production as the ID. Polo. And, in great news for gearheads everywhere, it will come with a faster and more powerful ID. Polo GTI version as well.<\/p>\n<section class=\"widget-newsletter\" contenteditable=\"false\" draggable=\"true\" data-widget=\"widget-newsletter\" readability=\"-19.086614173228\">\n<\/section>\n<p>The prototype versions of those cars will be shown at Europe&#8217;s biggest automotive trade show, IAA Munich, starting this weekend. But that&#8217;s not all. The automaker will also show off the ID. Cross SUV, slated as an electric counterpart to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/675170\/2024-vw-t-cross-debut\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">T-Cross<\/a> it sells in Europe, Latin America and other markets.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The ID. Polo and ID. (At the same time, those existing models don&#8217;t appear to be getting new names\u2014at least, not yet.)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A model like the Polo shows just how powerful a name can be: it stands for reliability, personality and history,&#8221; VW board member\u00a0Martin Sander said in a news release. &#8220;That\u2019s precisely why we are again giving our ID. models names that arouse emotions and are anchored in people\u2019s everyday lives. While never sold in America, the Polo has gone on to be one of its most successful models ever. Capitalizing on that branding is something of a no-brainer as VW keeps gaining momentum as an EV maker, especially in Europe, where it has <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/765283\/volkswagen-tesla-sales-europe-cm\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22765283%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22volkswagen-tesla-sales-europe-cm%22%7D\">surpassed Tesla in sales for months<\/a>. Many people presumed the original ID.2all Concept unveiled in 2023 would be an electric Golf, but then VW announced plans for a bigger variant called\u2014naturally\u2014the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/726268\/volkswagen-id-golf-2029\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22726268%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22volkswagen-id-golf-2029%22%7D\">ID.
