After confirming the ID.2 will launch as the ID.Polo, <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/guides\/volkswagen\/\">Volkswagen<\/a> promises its new family of entry-level EVs \u201cwill make electric driving more affordable than ever.\u201d The ID.Polo is just the start with an electric T-Cross and much more coming soon.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-432530\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-meet-the-volkswagen-id-polo\">Meet the Volkswagen ID.Polo<\/h2>\n<p>Volkswagen is reviving some of its most popular nameplates for its next-generation electric vehicles. Starting with the ID.Polo next year, Volkswagen will begin transferring names from ICE models to its new family of EVs.<\/p>\n<p>The all-electric ID.Polo \u201cis just the beginning,\u201d according to Thomas Sch\u00e4fer, VW brand CEO. As the production version of the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.volkswagen-newsroom.com\/en\/press-releases\/world-premiere-of-the-id-2all-concept-the-electric-car-from-volkswagen-costing-less-than-25000-euros-15625\"> ID.2all concept<\/a> from 2023, the 25,000 euro ($29,000) entry-level electric car, the Polo EV, is expected to be a cornerstone of Volkswagen\u2019s electrification strategy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA model like the Polo shows just how powerful a name can be,\u201d Martin Sanders, Volkswagen\u2019s sales boss, said, adding, \u201cit stands for reliability, personality and history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t<span class=\"outbrain-ad-label\">Advertisement &#8211; scroll for more content<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The ID.Polo is just the start. Volkswagen has several new affordable EVs on the way, including <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2025\/09\/01\/volkswagen-about-to-unveil-most-affordable-electric-suv\/\">the ID.Cross<\/a>, an electric counterpart to the T-Cross.<\/p>\n<p>Volkswagen said its new family of EVs marks the beginning of a new era, promising to make electric driving more affordable than ever.<\/p>\n<p>The ID.Polo will evolve into an electric hot hatch, featuring a sporty GTI variant. Sanders said the ID.GTI Concept will go into production as the ID. Polo GTI, which is also launching next year.
