The automaker sold 10,671 units combined of the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning and the E-Transit last month, representing 19.3% sales growth over the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>The bulk of those sales were driven by the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/ford\/mach-e\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"1\" data-params=\"%7B%22make_alias%22%3A%22ford%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22mach-e%22%7D\">Mustang Mach-E<\/a>, which has ranked among America\u2019s most popular electric crossovers since it first went on sale in late 2020. Sales of the E-Transit cargo van, meanwhile, plunged 76% to just 228 units.<\/p>\n<p>Despite their age, Ford\u2019s EVs are holding up well. The Mach-E, now more than four years old, received a <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/737988\/2025-ford-mustang-mach-e\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22737988%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%222025-ford-mustang-mach-e%22%7D\">major refresh for model year 2026<\/a>. Built in Mexico, the updated version got cheaper this year despite new tariffs. It now comes with a standard heat pump for better cold-weather range and the latest BlueCruise advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) with automatic lane changes.<\/p>\n<p>Ford has also been offering a <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/765313\/ford-power-promise-charger-tax-credit\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22765313%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22ford-power-promise-charger-tax-credit%22%7D\">complimentary Level 2 home charger and installation<\/a> since last year to its EV customers.<\/p>\n<p>Ford hybrid sales were up 14.5% in August, with 18,773 units sold. The brand groups the sales of its hybrids and gas-only models, so it\u2019s unclear how many units the automaker exactly sold for individual hybrid models. Experts have predicted a possible slowdown in the fall, though so far in the year the market has shown little sign of cooling. <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/770950\/gm-ev-sales-record-august\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22770950%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22gm-ev-sales-record-august%22%7D\">General Motors<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/771056\/hyundai-kia-ev-hybrid-sales-august\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22771056%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22hyundai-kia-ev-hybrid-sales-august%22%7D\">Hyundai<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/kia\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"2\" data-params=\"%7B%22alias%22%3A%22kia%22%7D\">Kia<\/a> also reported record August EV sales this week.<\/p>\n<p>However, Ford can\u2019t rely on the Mach-E and the F-150 Lightning forever. After several delays and billions of dollars in losses, the automaker is working to change that. Ford will launch a <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/768601\/ford-affordable-electric-truck-universal-ev-platform\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22768601%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22ford-affordable-electric-truck-universal-ev-platform%22%7D\">new electric truck<\/a> that it claims will start at $30,000, ride on a completely new architecture and will be made using radically different manufacturing processes.<\/p>\n<p>That truck is due in 2027, and it\u2019s just the kind of reset Ford will need to stay competitive in a post-tax-credit EV market.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>Have a tip?
