That changed moments ago when CEO Oliver Zipse did just that on stage during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwblog.com\/2025\/09\/05\/bmw-ix3-2026-neue-klasse-suv\/\">iX3\u2019s world premiere<\/a>. The electric crossover shared the spotlight with its sedan sibling, still camouflaged since it won\u2019t debut until later in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>BMW\u2019s boss didn\u2019t go into much detail about the i3 sedan, but he did confirm it\u2019ll arrive before the next-generation 3 Series. Both belong to the reborn Neue Klasse lineup, and spy shots suggest they\u2019ll look nearly identical. BMW still sells an i3 sedan in China, locally assembled and based on the long-wheelbase 3 Series. That stretched \u201cG28\u201d rides on the same CLAR platform as the regular \u201cG20.\u201d The outgoing model is likely to be replaced by a longer i3 built on the Neue Klasse platform. After all, BMW has already teased an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwblog.com\/2025\/04\/23\/bmw-ix3-long-wheelbase-teaser\/\">extended iX3<\/a> for China, scheduled for release in summer 2026.<\/p>\n<p>And this is just the beginning of BMW\u2019s product offensive. Zipse promised more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwblog.com\/2025\/03\/14\/bmw-launch-over-40-new-cars-until-2027\/\">40 new or updated models by the end of 2027<\/a>. Highlights will include the next-generation X5 and X7, both gaining electric versions for the first time.
