{"id":83648,"date":"2025-09-14T04:33:51","date_gmt":"2025-09-14T08:33:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=83648"},"modified":"2025-09-14T04:33:51","modified_gmt":"2025-09-14T08:33:51","slug":"ram-1500-rev-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/autosector.com\/?p=83648","title":{"rendered":"Ram Has Canceled Its Electric Pickup Truck"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Citing slowing demand for battery-powered vehicles, Stellantis\u00a0has canceled its electric Ram 1500 pickup.<\/li>\n<li>The Ram 1500 REV had faced several delays as Stellantis struggled with its electric Dodge and Jeep models.<\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile, the range-extended Ramcharger, which uses a gas engine to charge the battery, will be renamed the Ram 1500 REV instead.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ram won&#8217;t be going all-electric after all.<\/p>\n<p>Stellantis, the European-American parent company of the truck brand, announced today that the battery-powered <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/reviews\/729694\/ram-1500-rev-everything\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22729694%22%2C%22section%22%3A%222%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22ram-1500-rev-everything%22%7D\">2026 Ram 1500 REV<\/a> has been canceled. &#8220;As demand for full-size battery-electric trucks slows in North America, Stellantis is reassessing its product strategy and will discontinue development of a full-size BEV pickup,&#8221; the automaker said in a news release. &#8220;Ram is improving market competitiveness and growth while maintaining pricing power through products, services and electrified offerings.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The electric Ram truck, expected to be a competitor to the Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevrolet Silverado EV, had already seen several delays. Though it debuted in concept form in early 2023, the Ram 1500 REV was <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/741624\/ram-1500-rev-ramcharger-delay\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22741624%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22ram-1500-rev-ramcharger-delay%22%7D\">later pushed back to 2025<\/a>, then <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/759727\/ram-ramcharger-1500-truck-delayed\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22759727%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22ram-ramcharger-1500-truck-delayed%22%7D\">early 2026<\/a>, then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autonews.com\/stellantis\/an-stellantis-delays-ev-pickup-0514\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mid-2027<\/a>. Now, it has been delayed to &#8220;never.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But Ram isn&#8217;t abandoning electrified trucks entirely. The brand said today that <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/751747\/ramcharger-range-extended-ev-powertrain\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22751747%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22ramcharger-range-extended-ev-powertrain%22%7D\">the range-extended Ramcharger<\/a>, which will use a gas-powered V6 to recharge its battery,\u00a0will go on sale next year.
