The Swedish automaker confirmed plans to launch a \u201cnew, next-generation hybrid model\u201d as it continues to shuffle its lineup.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-435509\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-volvo-will-build-a-new-next-gen-hybrid-in-south-carolina\">Volvo will build a new, next-gen hybrid in South Carolina<\/h2>\n<p>Volvo has big plans to revamp the brand and entice buyers in the US. It will all begin at Volvo\u2019s plant, located just outside of Charleston, South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>After pouring $1.3 billion into the facility over the past decade, the Swedish automaker wants to make full use of its sole US plant.<\/p>\n<p>Two electric vehicles are currently built at the facility: the three-row Volvo EX90 SUV and the Polestar 3. However, that will soon change.<\/p>\n<p>\t<span class=\"outbrain-ad-label\">Advertisement &#8211; scroll for more content<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In June, Volvo announced that it would <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2025\/07\/16\/volvos-best-selling-vehicle-coming-to-the-us\/\">build its best-selling vehicle<\/a>, the XC60, at the facility, starting in late 2026. The new, next-gen hybrid is \u201cdesigned to meet the specific demands of the US market,\u201d the Swedish automaker confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Charleston plant is foundational to our strategic growth plan for the US,\u201d according to Luis Rezende, Volvo Cars\u2019 president of Americas.
