We reported in December 2024 that BMW isn\u2019t planning an internal combustion successor to the X4<\/a>. Instead, the coupe-SUV is widely expected to return in 2027 as the all-electric BMW iX4 (codename NA7)<\/a>, built on the Neue Klasse platform. While BMW hasn\u2019t officially confirmed that part yet, it has now confirmed that production of the current X4 is coming to an end.<\/p>\n

Gasoline X4 Removed From German Configurator<\/h3>\n

As Auto Motor und Sport<\/em> noticed, customers heading to the BMW configurator won\u2019t find any gasoline X4 models anymore. Instead, they\u2019re met with a message: \u201cThis model is not available in the selected model series. You have been redirected to a similar model.\u201d That\u2019s because gasoline variants of the X4 have been dropped from the lineup.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s part of BMW\u2019s broader effort to streamline its portfolio. The X4 isn\u2019t the only model affected, but for now, let\u2019s focus on the coupe-like sibling to the X3.<\/p>\n

X4 Production Timeline<\/h3>\n

The current BMW X4, introduced in 2018, is still based on the previous G01 X3 platform (or F97 in the case of the X4 M<\/a>). Unlike the newly released G45 X3, there\u2019s no successor in sight for the X4. BMW hasn\u2019t commented on what comes next.<\/p>\n
