The revs peak as instantaneously as the most exotic <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/category\/supercars\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:8;\">supercars<\/a>, sounding more like like a <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/bmw\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:9;\">BMW<\/a> or <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/lexus\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:10;\">Lexus<\/a> V8 rather than the low, lumpy-cammed thump-thump of traditional Detroiters or the powerful but frankly tinny sound of the C7 Z06.<\/p>\n<p>The engine is related to the V8 found in Chevy&#8217;s Corvette C8.R race car, which actually has less power and a lower redline at 7,600 rpm. Those are due to rules in the racing series in which it competes, not an engineering limitation.<\/p>\n<p>The car in the anechoic chamber looks closer to the Z06 that Chevy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2021\/09\/27\/2023-c8-corvette-z06-official-reveal\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:11;\">has officially shown<\/a>, as it lacks the giant wing seen on the Z06 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/2021\/08\/13\/2023-chevy-corvette-z06-c8-spy-photos\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:12;\">in spy shots<\/a> and in the second video. Both spoilers differ from the one found on the base <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/chevrolet\/corvette\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:13;\">Corvette<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the wing, the Z06 will have more aggressive front and rear fascias. The side intakes feeding the mid-mounted V8 appear to take a different shape as well, wider and contrasting <a class=\"injectedLinkmain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/colors\/\" data-ylk=\"elm:context_link;itc:0;pos:1;sec:donut-hole;cpos:14;\">colors<\/a> in their housing.<\/p>\n<p>The V8 sounds befitting of a mid-engined supercar, and foretells good things about the Z06.
