Tesla has a trio of new car paint colors coming, something the automaker hasn\u2019t done in years.<\/p>\n

The new colors were revealed in Tesla\u2019s latest mobile app update.<\/p>\n

Tesla buyers have been teased about new factory colors for years now, but it might finally happen soon.<\/p>\n

Back in the early days of the Model S, Tesla used to offer a variety of colors, but the automaker decided to streamline options, and it now offers only a handful of color options that have remained the same for the last few years.<\/p>\n

CEO Elon Musk has been talking about Tesla finally releasing new colors, but it has been linked to a new\u00a0\u201cmost-advanced paint shop\u201d at Gigafactory Berlin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The CEO talked about new multi-layered paints:<\/p>\n

\u201cGiga Berlin will have world\u2019s most advanced paint shop, with more layers of stunning colors that subtly change with curvature.<\/em>\u201c<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Musk said that Tesla is working on a new \u201cdeep crimson red\u201d that is becoming his favorite feature.<\/p>\n

The color was\u00a0spotted on Musk\u2019s personal Model S<\/a>\u00a0last year \u2013 pictured above.<\/p>\n

It was also spotted on a Model S body at Tesla\u2019s Fremont factory<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Now we learn of new colors coming to Tesla vehicles thanks to some internet sleuths snooping around the new Tesla mobile app update:<\/p>\n

-New models are being added to the app, like stop lights, seems like the mobile app is going to be basically showing exactly what the car is at some point <\/p>\n

It lists three new colors, including the \u2018Deep Crimson\u2019 previously announced by Musk:<\/p>\n

  • Abyss Blue Multicoat<\/li>\n
  • Mercury Silver Metallic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    A Twitter user going by \u2018Tesla_Adri<\/a>\u2018 produced a visual representation of the colors:<\/p>\n

    Now the question is when those colors will be available and on which models. Another remaining question is what factories will these color cars be produced at, since Musk previously linked the new colors to Tesla\u2019s new paint shop at Gigafactory Berlin.<\/p>\n

    Tesla is expected to start production of an updated version of the Model Y at Gigafactory Berlin by the end of the year. <\/p>\n
