Since then, <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/land-rover\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"2\" data-params=\"%7B%22alias%22%3A%22land-rover%22%7D\">Land Rover<\/a> has built only four generations of the flagship SUV, so it goes without saying that every time a new one comes out, it is a pretty special event.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s all the more true for the unveiling of the all-new Range Rover, as the fifth-generation model promises to be the most technically advanced and refined iteration to date. It\u2019s also the Range Rover that brings the most radical changes in the nameplate\u2019s 52-year history.<\/p>\n<p>Featuring the same unmistakable proportions smoothed out by modern design cues borrowed from the smaller Velar, the <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/525086\/range-rover-spy-shots-phev\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22525086%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22range-rover-spy-shots-phev%22%7D\">2022 Range Rover<\/a> no longer offers permanent four-wheel drive. Well, the big luxury SUV has got that area covered, too. The new Range Rover rides on the new MLA-Flex body platform designed for ICE, PHEV, and BEV powertrains.<\/p>\n<p>Land Rover says a <a href=\"https:\/\/insideevs.com\/news\/444499\/range-rover-ev-jaguar-xj-postponed-pandemic\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22444499%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22range-rover-ev-jaguar-xj-postponed-pandemic%22%7D\">pure-electric model<\/a> will join the family in 2024, but until then customers will have two interesting plug-in hybrid powertrains to choose from (besides the usual six- and eight-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines\u2014most of them with mild-hybrid assistance).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Badged P440e and P510e, Land Rover describes them as \u201cextended range\u201d PHEV powertrains. Both combine a 3.0-liter Ingenium straight-six gasoline engine with a 105 kW (141 hp) electric motor integrated with the transmission and a 38.2 kWh lithium-ion battery (31.8 kWh usable).<\/p>\n<p>In all-electric mode, the battery provides enough juice for a driving range (WLTP) of 100 km (62 miles) and a\u00a0top speed of 140 km\/h (87 mph) in both cases. It\u2019s able to sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km\/h) in 5.3 seconds. The P440e has a combined output of 440 PS (434 hp) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque, so we assume that the ICE is rated lower.<\/p>\n<p>Now, as far as market availability, the P510e will not come to the United States and will be offered exclusively with the standard wheelbase.
