Honda to Focus on Increasing Hybrid Volume with Core Models

As the next step in Honda’s electrification strategy in North America, the company will focus on increasing hybrid volume of core models – CR-V, Accord and, in the future, Civic.

Honda will introduce an all-new CR-V Hybrid this year with an all-new Accord Hybrid to follow, these hybrid offerings will eventually represent more than 50 per cent of the sales mix of each model. Hybrid powerplants will be included in the top and best performing models in the Honda lineup.

“Increasing our hybrid-electric vehicle output is critical to reducing Honda’s greenhouse gas emissions and achieving our goals of 100 per cent zero-emission vehicle sales in North America by 2040 and carbon neutrality for our global operations by 2050,” said Jean Marc Leclerc, president and CEO Honda Canada. “Our recent investment of $1.38 billion to upgrade our Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) facilities in preparation for our electrified future is another step to realizing these goals as HCM will be the North American lead plant for building the all-new, 2023 CR-V Hybrid.”

Honda sales of electrified vehicles in Canada are expected to increase with more of our core and popular models available with hybrid power, including the all-new CR-V, Accord and Civic.

More information about the future Civic Hybrid, including timing and manufacturing details, will be available closer to the model’s launch.
